"WELL FOUNDED FEAR: TALES FROM REAL LIFE,"(USA, 2004, documentary, 95')
Produced and Directed by Shari Robertson and Michael
Camerini.
An extension of "Well Founded Fear," an award winning documentary presented at Sundance Film Festival in 2000 and screened on PBS later the same year, "Tales From Real Life" is part of a series of films examining the institution of political asylum in the United States. It is a unique view of the inner workings of Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), now renamed U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), as told through stories of applicants from Belarus, Sudan, Albania, Guatemala and Serbia. The film covers the fundamentals of the political asylum process and gives a rare glimpse inside the INS interview room. This is the first public screening of "WELL FOUNDED FEAR: TALES FROM REALLIFE." Amy Gottlieb, director of Immigration Rights Program with American Friends Service Committee will be present for the discussion of current immigrationissues after the film. "Tales From Real Life" will be introduced by Dejan Kovacevic, film editor on the series. |
