Bosnia's much loved traditional dish burek has recently become a part of New York City's gourmet scene. The story of burek's popularity in America tells about the Bosnian community who brought it here and about the people from all parts of the Balkans and former Yugoslavia who are happy to find it so far from home. Ultimately, it is a story about the struggle, common to all new immigrants, to preserve their customs and identity while adapting to a new social and cultural environment.
This is the first public screening of NOT SO HUMBLE PIE. The producers will be available for discussion after the film. Samplings of the famous pie will also be available after the screening.- Thursday, 10/14/04, 7 pm: Crucible of War documentary film, Q&A: Leon Gerskovic and Erica Ginsberg.
