February 27 An Evening of Sleep Hygiene with Dr.Jospeh Goss, Clinical Director of the
Seton Health Systems Sleep Laboratory. Dr.Goss will present and in-depth discussion of sleep hygiene:
An area of concern receiving more and more attention from health care practitioners.
Sleep disturbance has been a predominant pattern seen in
post 9/11 PTSD, panic, anxiety and depressive disorders.
Dr.Goss will discuss etiologies of sleep disturbance, medication
interventions and cognitive interventions to improve sleep patterns.
Open discussions and clinical questions are welcome. Dinner will be served.

6:00-9:00 p.m. at RACCOON - Come enjoy an evening of poetry
readings, song and dance in celebration of the cultural heritage of

The Devil on All Sides (Le Diable en
Partage) is the first American production of work by Fabrice
Melquiot, one of the most celebrated contemporary French playwrights. A
haunting tragedy set during the war in ex-Yugoslavia, the play begins
with Lorko, a Christian, who falls in love with and marries Elma, a
Muslim. As the war breaks out, Melquiot shows us the pressures on their
love, their families, and the crumbling world around them in a style that
seamlessly blends expressionism, poetry, fantasy, and harsh, raw reality.

Presently, the town of Srebrenica, bringing Dayton Accords in question, wishes to secede from Republika Srpska, refusing to live in the entity accused of comitting genocide against them, and, failing to win war damages from Serbia, in the judgement of International Court of Justice, earlier this year, and, with war crimes suspects Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic still at large, disgruntled 6000 Srebrenica massacre victims are suing Dutch for failing to protect their UN safe haven, in a civil lawsuit. ... more... .

October 2 October is The City of New York Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As a part of this project, October 2007 is the Women Writing Against Violence Workshop Month at Raccoon Space with Kristin Vukovic teaching a Creative Writing Class starting on Tuesday, October 2; classes will run every Tuesday in October 6-8 pm; classes are free of charge - hurry to sign up, since our space is limited; Kristin Vukovic is editor-in-chief of Columbia University literary magazine - Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art. Class days marked brown on the calendar.
